The Truth on Tithes & Offerings.

A lot of people tithe and give offerings so as not to be cursed or in other to be blessed by God or for both reasons. This should not be so because Jesus broke the curse of the law when he died on the cross and every blessing in Christ belongs to us as a result of us being in Christ.

God wants to bless lives through us and we should tithe (out of a free will and without compulsion IF WE CHOOSE TO) and give offerings as channels of God's blessings and not because we want Him to bless us or because we do not want to be under a curse. The blessings of Abraham was promised to Abraham and to his seed, Christ. That very same blessing remains in us.

Hebrews 10:9-14 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. (KJV)

2Co 9:6-9 6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity:for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor:his righteousness remaineth for ever. (KJV)

We should give as we purpose in our heart and without grudge or of necessity.

If the church will receive tithes and offerings from the people, the least that can be done is to ensure the people learn how to earn before they give.

We need to also help each other to earn more than enough to fend for ourselves by teaching and showing each other how to even as we tithe and give our offerings. That I believe is a "WIN-WIN" situation.

Above all, we all should sit with the Word of God to find out what God says concerning tithes & offerings for ourselves.

Q.E.D. I agree with you wholeheartedly. It doesn't really matter if it's 1% you are willing to give, the most important thing is that it must not be grudgingly given. And must be understood that under law it is 10% under grace it is a call for all of us, withholding when you have means is wickedness and grace does not give license for misery or compulsive giving. Not giving tithes doesn't make things TIGHT! But not giving at all does. We should however understand that resources are given to us as stewards. Giving does not take from us but releases us and brings back more. Quite short but expository. Thanks for that truth Papa Yome!

I mean the act of not giving makes things quite tight

Thanks for this expository piece Yomi. I think pastors in this day and age have successfully brainwashed us into believing that we are sinners when we don't tithe. Until we get to a level where Christians can search out the scripture for themselves, we will still be a victim of religious jargons.

I do not agree that pastors have brainwashed us to believe that we are sinners when we dont tithe. I believe every christian should tithe but with the right knowledge, purpose & intent. What we have is a case of lazy christians that limit their knowledge of the word to what is preached. Abraham gave a tithe to Melchizedek out of a free will & that is what I encourage us to do; tithe with a free will and as covenant children and partners with God.

i see tithing from the angel of divine principles, where obidience or adherance yiels positive results and vice versa. This does it for me.....where the bible says " and proof me if i will not open the windows of heaven and pour you a blessing also rebuking the devourer fornmy sake". Tithing means reverence for your source, we dont pay cos we dont trust he gave us nor believe his words on a personal level. I have personal testimonies from tithing sir.
